Perfume Consulting

storage

Question - by Ixcheal Jun 27, 2019

What is the best way to store perfume? I have heard that it stays fresher longer in the fridge. I live in FL and I have noticed, my Angel au de parfum goe 'off' after a while??? Does light affect it too?

yes, a cool dark place is usually considered the best place to store your fragrance.

Body sprays are especially lovely and twice as refreshing--ice cold, from the refrigerator.--lavrose

Yes, storing your bottle in the fridge will make sure it will last longer. If you generally use perfume bottles within in a year it won't matter too much but certain ingredients in perfumes work better when fresh. Sunlight will age the perfume as well and it may change the color of the overall perfume.

Don't store your fragrance in the bathroom. Pick a dark place in the bedroom. I use the top drawer of my dresser to store my perfumes.

First, if it is refillable, make sure everything is screwed on tight. Unless you are talking years here, I wouldn't worry. I too reside in the sunshine state. I keep my bottles at the bathroom vanity. With the shower and humidity in a lavatory I have yet to notice any difference to my fragrances. This room is usually dark and often steamy, no rush to make anything evaporate before its time. Display them in the restroom, not the vegetable crisper.
