Debut handbag collection by Mugler Paris

  - Fashion

At the Spring/Summer 2016 fashion show, Mugler Paris unveiled the first handbag collection designed by David Koma. Embodying the powerful and feminine codes of the Mugler House, each bag is a sophisticated accessory and considered design object, inside and out.

Designed in Paris and crafted in Italy, the collection consists of three bold chapters defined by sleek, geometric hardware; a flat medallion stud, metal frame and corner detailing, or the ‘Sergent’ chevron strap accent the various structured styles. The collection is both diverse and practical: from the evening sophistication of an envelope clutch and crossbody chain pouch, to the urban realism of a box-shaped satchel and a soft, panelled ‘cabas’ tote. Crafted in fine materials like nubuck calfskin, water snake, patent leather and suede, they appear in bi-colour combinations of black, white, navy, red, and olive, or the pop of mustard yellow and acid green. Details like grid-embossed leather, chain straps and ridged, nickel-plated hardware appear both tough and decorative, highlighting the linear shape of each handbag.

The Mugler Paris handbag collection will be available at selected stores worldwide beginning in February 2016.

This collection is a first intention. I wanted to create simple, angular shapes that have a graphic quality, and a mix of feminine and masculine – bags that complement
the wardrobe of my Mugler woman.
